Menier Chocolate Factory, London

The Menier Chocolate Factory, or just the Menier, is a small theatre at 53 Southwark Street, five to seven minutes' walk from London Bridge station and round the corner from Borough Market. It makes its own productions, musicals and plays, and puts on a new one every few months. Plenty of them have gone on to the West End and Broadway.

Choosing seats? The Menier has one auditorium, and it's rebuilt for every show, so the seating plan changes each time. It's small, so you're close to the actors wherever you sit. Check your show's page to see how the seats are laid out and whether they're reserved.

Already booked? Arrive 30 minutes before, no later. Bags are checked at the door, and latecomers may not get in at all. The Menier's restaurant is closed, so eat in Borough Market first; the bar is open, and it sells Menier chocolate.

Everything else has its own page: the seating plan, how to get here, access, the bar and the cloakroom, restaurants, pubs and hotels nearby and more about the Menier.

Menier Chocolate Factory FAQs

Is the Menier Chocolate Factory in the West End?

No. It's in Southwark, south of the river by London Bridge, so it's an Off-West End theatre. Twenty of its productions have moved on to West End theatres, though, and six to Broadway.

How many seats does the Menier Chocolate Factory have?

It changes with every production, because the seating is laid out differently each time. It's a small theatre, and the front rows are only a few feet from the actors.

Does the Menier Chocolate Factory have a bar or restaurant?

There's a bar, but the restaurant is closed. The bar sells wine, beer, soft drinks, snacks and Menier chocolate, takes cash and card, and if your show has an interval you can order your drinks for it in advance. For dinner, Borough Market and Southwark Street are a few minutes away.

What happens if I'm late?

You may not be let in. Latecomers can be asked to wait for a suitable break, and on a show with no interval there may not be one, so you'd miss it altogether. There's no re-admission once a show has started either, if you step out.

Can I book by phone?

Yes, on 020 7193 9050. You'll speak to a real person who can tell you how the seats are set out for your show, and the price we quote is the price you pay.
