FAQs

How will I receive my tickets? See our Ticket delivery page. Need accessible seating? See Accessibility bookings.

Everything below is what we would tell you on the phone. If your question is not here, call us on 020 7193 9050, Monday to Saturday 8am to 8pm and Sunday 10am to 8pm. A person answers.

Buying tickets

Is it cheaper to book direct with the theatre?

Not usually, and often it is the same. Theatres sell through a small number of official agents, and we are one route into that same stock. Where a show genuinely is cheaper elsewhere, we would rather tell you than have you find out afterwards. Call us and ask.

Why is the price different from another site?

Prices move with demand, and different sellers add fees differently. Our price is all-in: the price you see is what you pay.

Can I choose my exact seats?

For most shows, yes. On others you choose an area and the system allocates the best available seats in it. If seats matter to you, call us before you book. Knowing which row to aim for is what we are for.

Do you sell tickets for every show in London?

Not every show, but most of the West End. If you can't find something, call us and we'll tell you where to get it, even when that isn't us. One of the things we really pride ourselves on is giving honest, genuine advice.

Your tickets

How do I get my tickets?

By email, as e-tickets. You'll get a confirmation email when you book. Some tickets follow within minutes, others arrive around 24 hours before the show. Show them on your phone at the door, or print them if you prefer.

It's the day of the show and my tickets have not arrived.

Check your junk folder first, then call us on 020 7193 9050 and we will resend them. If the performance is close and you still have nothing, ring rather than email: we can sort it faster than the clock can.

Do I need to print anything?

No. Your phone is enough at every West End theatre. Just make sure your phone is charged.

Can I change the name on a booking?

The name on the tickets does not usually matter: whoever holds the e-ticket can use it. A few productions do check, so if the tickets are a gift, say so when you book and we will tell you whether it matters for that show.

Changes, refunds and cancellations

Can I get a refund?

Most tickets are non-exchangeable and non-refundable, which is standard across the industry rather than a rule of ours. The exception is a cancelled performance. We will always do our best to help where we can, so if your plans change, call us before the performance and we will tell you honestly what is possible.

Can I change to a different date?

Sometimes, and it depends on the show and how much notice you can give. Some tickets cannot be exchanged at all. Call us as early as you can: the closer to the performance, the harder it gets, and we would rather try early than explain late.

The show has been cancelled. What happens?

You are refunded in full, or we can help you book for a different date. If it has been rescheduled rather than cancelled, your tickets are usually moved to the new date, and you can ask for a refund if that date does not work. We will contact you if a show you have booked is cancelled.

A performer I booked to see is not appearing.

Casting can change and understudies are part of theatre. It is not grounds for a refund, and nobody in the industry treats it as such. If a star's appearance matters to you, call us before booking and we will tell you what is announced and how reliable it usually is.

I booked the wrong date.

Call us straight away. The sooner you ring, the more likely it is we can try to fix it.

At the theatre

How early should I arrive?

Fifteen to twenty minutes before the performance, no later. Some theatres need longer, and our theatre pages say which.

What if I am late for a show?

Latecomers are held until a suitable break, which varies by show. On some one-act shows there is no way in at all. Our show pages say what each production does, where it publishes this.

What can I take in?

Bags are usually checked and large ones may not be allowed. Photography and filming are not permitted during a performance at any West End theatre.

I need step-free access or an accessible seat.

Accessible seating is held by each theatre's own access team, who book it directly. Our theatre pages carry the details for each venue. We do not sell access seats ourselves, because the venue can confirm the right space for your needs before you pay.

Is there a dress code?

No. Wear what you're comfortable in, jeans and trainers included. Plenty of people dress up for a birthday or anniversary, and nobody minds either way. Layers help, because some auditoriums get warm.

What's the best show in London right now?

It depends who's going, or who you ask! A first West End musical, a family trip and a night out with friends usually call for different shows. Tell us who's coming on 020 7193 9050 and we'll suggest two or three that fit. Sometimes it's easier to rule out ones which aren't suitable.

Groups, schools and gifts

How many people counts as a group?

Group rates usually start from around six people, and vary by show. Tell us the show, the date and how many, and we will come back with what is available.

Do you handle school trips?

Yes, and there is more flexibility than most people expect. We can invoice the school, with time to pay, usually up to a month depending on when the performance is. There is normally one free teacher place for every ten students, though it varies by show. We can help with the practical side: where the coach can park, how long to allow, and how to get a group in and seated without a scramble. Some shows offer a guide or a talk, and we will tell you which. Call us with the show, the date and rough numbers and we will come back with what is available.

Do you sell gift vouchers?

Yes. Call us on 020 7193 9050 and we will take the payment over the phone, then email a voucher as a PDF with a code on it, to spend against any show we sell. There is no set amount: you choose what goes on it. It is the honest answer to "they love theatre and I have no idea what they want to see".

Us

Who are you?

Hit The Theatre has been selling West End tickets since 2004. We are a small team, we answer our own phone, and we have seen most of what we sell.

How do I contact you?

Call 020 7193 9050, Monday to Saturday 8am to 8pm and Sunday 10am to 8pm, or email [email protected]. By post: Unit 219, Brickfields, 37 Cremer Street, London E2 8HD.

Do you have a Box Office I can visit?

No. We are a phone and online Box Office, so everything is done by phone or email. It is also why we answer quickly: there is no counter queue in front of you.
