The Menier has one auditorium, on a single level, with no circle and no Boxes. There's no fixed stage either, so each production builds its own layout and the seating plan goes with it.
Why the plan changes with every show
One show puts the audience on three sides of a bare stage, the next sits you on sofas and stools inside the set, and the one after that goes back to rows facing the front. The row letters, the aisles and the best seats move each time. So look at the plan for your show and your date.
How to pick a seat, step by step
- Check the show's page. It tells you how the seats are set out for that production and whether seats are reserved or unreserved.
- If seats are reserved, pick a seat in the middle of a block that faces the main part of the stage. If a band is sold as Restricted View, something in that layout gets in the way, and that's why it's cheaper.
- If seating is unreserved, you choose your seat when you get there, so the earlier you arrive, the more choice you have. Thirty minutes before is the minimum.
- If steps are hard for you, there are a few steps down into the rows, with a handrail. The access page has the step-free route and the wheelchair space.
What's the view like?
Close, from almost everywhere. It's a small theatre, and the front rows are only a few feet from the actors. When the audience sits on more than one side of the stage, the seats at the far ends of a side bank will see some of the action from behind or side-on, so the middle of a bank is the safer choice.

Seating Plan FAQs
What are the best seats at the Menier Chocolate Factory?
There isn't one best block, because the layout changes with each show. Facing the main part of the stage beats the far end of a side bank, and if your show sells a Restricted View band, that's the one to skip unless the price matters most. Nobody sits a long way back.
Is seating reserved at the Menier Chocolate Factory?
It depends on the show. Most productions sell reserved seats, but some are unreserved, and then it's first come, first served on the night. The show's page tells you which.
