Where to Sit

The Menier sets out its seats differently for each show, and it hasn't published a plan for this one. What the ticket types tell you: Premier seats are the best in the theatre, and Restricted View seats have something in the way. Book early for the best choice.

What's Fourteen Again About?

It starts at a slimming club, where Peggy bumps into Lou, her best friend from school, who she hasn't seen in 35 years. That night Peggy goes to bed and wakes up a teenager. She has the chance to put right the mistakes of her teens, and to find out what really happened to Lou.

If you've seen 17 Again or 13 Going on 30, you know the idea. What makes this one different is the songs.

Victoria Wood's Songs

Every song in the show is Victoria Wood's, words and music. The title comes from her song Fourteen Again, and the finale is The Ballad of Barry and Freda, the one that goes "Let's do it, let's do it". There are sad ones too: Litter Bin, one of her quietest songs, sits at the heart of Lou's story.

Tom MacRae, who wrote Everybody's Talking About Jamie, built the story around them, and all three of the cast have been in Wood's Acorn Antiques musical.

Who's Fourteen Again For?

Anyone who grew up with Victoria Wood on the telly, and anyone who loves a feel-good night out with an old friend. It's a story about two women and their friendship, it's funny, and it has a sad streak running through it.

With a 20-minute interval it runs 2 hours, so an evening show finishes at about 9:30pm.

Fourteen Again News and Reviews

Fourteen Again started at the Victoria Wood Theatre in Bowness-on-Windermere, in the Lake District, in May 2026. The theatre had just been renamed after her, and the run was extended into June. This is its London premiere.

The critics liked it in Bowness. WhatsOnStage gave it four stars and called it "a smartly funny evocation of female friendship and endurance that is heart-raisingly hard to resist." Musical Theatre Review gave it five. London reviews follow the first night on 2 December.

Before Fourteen Again, the Menier has Tru, with Jesse Tyler Ferguson as Truman Capote, until 14 November.
