The restaurants near Hampstead Theatre are mostly on the streets around Swiss Cottage station and along Finchley Road, a few minutes from the door. Bars are fewer, and the nearest is the theatre's own Café Bar. Two hotels are within five minutes' walk. Opening times change, so check before you set out.

• Bradley's, about two minutes away on Winchester Road. A modern British restaurant that has been cooking here since 1992, close enough to the theatre to have become the usual dinner before a show
• Green Cottage, about six minutes away on Finchley Road. A long-running Cantonese restaurant, quick enough for dinner before the show
• Singapore Garden, about nine minutes away on Fairfax Road. Singaporean and Malaysian cooking, and popular enough that it's worth booking

Drink

• The Café Bar, in the theatre. Craft beer from Toast Brewery, Sacred gin and a wine list, with terraces outside, and you can order your interval drinks before curtain up
• The Washington, about 12 minutes away on England's Lane in Belsize Park. A Victorian pub with its original interior, for a drink after the show on the walk to Belsize Park station
• The Sir Richard Steele, about 16 minutes away on Haverstock Hill. An independent pub, the one to try if you're heading towards Chalk Farm

• Best Western Swiss Cottage Hotel, about two minutes away on Adamson Road. A Victorian townhouse hotel with breakfast but no evening restaurant, so eat at Bradley's round the corner
• London Marriott Hotel Regents Park, about four minutes away on King Henry's Road. A big hotel with a pool, a gym and its own restaurant and bar
• Hampstead Britannia Hotel, about 11 minutes away on Primrose Hill Road. A large hotel near Chalk Farm, plain but handy for the Roundhouse too
