Access and Facilities at Hampstead Theatre
5 shows on now · From £12 · See shows
Hampstead's building opened in 2003, with level access from the street and a lift to every level, including both the Main Stage and Hampstead Downstairs.
Access bookings are handled by the theatre, not by us. Book access seats directly with Hampstead Theatre through its official site.
Getting in
The entrance is on the ground floor, with a push-button door. The lift has low-level controls, audio announcements and Braille. The Box Office and the Café Bar both have a lowered counter.
Wheelchair spaces
There are wheelchair spaces on the Main Stage and Downstairs. They can be booked with the theatre, or picked online by choosing a seat with the wheelchair symbol.
Toilets
There are accessible toilets on every level, left unlocked.
Hearing and sight
The Main Stage has an infrared hearing system, with headsets and neck loops from the Box Office. On captioned performances on the Main Stage, the words appear on a screen above the stage, with a captioned Q&A afterwards. Downstairs, captions come on a handheld tablet or your own phone. Audio-described performances come with introductory notes in advance and a touch tour before the show.
Access performances
Each production sets its own captioned and audio-described dates, and you'll find them on the show's page. Hampstead also runs a free Access Scheme, booked with the theatre.
Assistance dogs
Assistance dogs are welcome. Let the theatre know when you book, so it can seat you with room for your dog.
