Two levels and 2,067 seats, ten of them in the two Boxes.
The Stalls carry on past Z
There are thirty rows in the Stalls. They run A to Z, with no row I, and then keep going: VV, WW, XX, YY, ZZ.
A seating chart described as running "A to Z" is about 250 seats short of the building, and row XX is not near the front of a second alphabet, it is the twenty-eighth row back. Read the letter carefully before you buy what you think is the back of the Stalls.
The Circle is simpler. Rows A to Q, again with no row I, sixteen rows in all.
Fifty years as a cinema, which is why the sightlines work
A cinema has to put a whole screen in front of everybody who paid. This auditorium was drawn in 1929 to do both jobs, films and musicals, and it ran as a cinema from 1930 until 1981. The shape never changed when the films stopped and the musicals came back.
None of that fixes distance. There are thirty rows in the Stalls and sixteen in the Circle, so the back of either level is a long way out. When a seat here is cheap, distance is what you are paying less for, not a worse view.
Stalls or Circle?
The Stalls. The centre of them is the best place to be in the building, and the front of the Circle is what we would book after that. We'd always rather the Stalls at the Dominion, as it's such a large theatre. You just feel more connected to the show in the Stalls. The Circle is quite high, but you do still get a good view from there.
At the back it gets less obvious. The rear Stalls sit under the Circle and you lose a little at the top of the picture, enough that it feels slightly like looking through a letterbox. The Circle here is set high, though, so you still see the stage properly. What is actually wrong with those seats is that they are thirty rows out, which makes them good value when they are cheap and a poor buy when they are not.
So: rear Stalls over rear Circle, at anything like the same price. The back of the Circle feels a long, long way from the stage.
The levels at a glance
- Stalls, 1,305 seats, thirty rows, A to Z then VV to ZZ. Where we send most people
- Circle, 752 seats, sixteen rows, A to Q. You walk in between rows G and H
- Boxes, two of them, ten seats between them, both side-on
What it costs
Seats for the current run start at around £25 midweek and around £30 at the weekend. Most seats sit between around £65 and around £100, and premium starts from around £110.
The floor is what moves between midweek and the weekend. At the top the price follows how busy your date is rather than which day it falls on, so the same seat can cost noticeably more on a performance that is selling well. Book early and that works in your favour.
We use all-in pricing, so the price you see is what you pay.
The seating plan
The plan shows both levels, the two Boxes and where the aisles fall on each. Tap a section to see what is left on your date and what it costs, then pick your seat from there.
