Who's The Devil Wears Prada For?

Anyone who loves the film. That is the clearest way to put it, and it is close to a guarantee: the stage version follows the screenplay closely, the scenes you remember are all here, and the jokes land the same, with a few additions in there as well.

Fans of a big night out. The Dominion is one of the largest theatres in London and this production uses the whole of it (including the Stalls aisles).

Groups and birthdays. It is sociable, loud and funny, and it is priced better for a group than most shows this size.

Not for you if you are coming mainly for the songs. Elton John wrote them. Whilst they are catchy, they are not that memorable, and several critics said so.

Children of about eight and up. The guidance is 8+ and under-5s are not admitted. There is repeated strobe lighting, which matters more than the age number for some families. There is more on that below.

What Tickets Cost

Tickets start from around £25 midweek. Most seats sell for somewhere between £65 and £100, and premium seats start from around £110.

The £25 seats are real, and they are the far edges of the auditorium. The middle of the range buys a much better seat.

What the range actually buys: around £65 puts you in the side block of the Stalls, and around £100 puts you in the centre block. The gap in view between those two is a good deal smaller than the gap in price, which is why the side block is the value pick at this theatre.

Family tickets, group rates and even some deals are available on most performances. Call us on 020 7193 9050 and we will check what is on your date.

About The Devil Wears Prada at the Dominion Theatre

It did not start well. A pre-Broadway try-out in Chicago in 2022 was badly received, the Broadway transfer was shelved, the original director left, and Jerry Mitchell was brought in to rebuild it. The show that opened at the Dominion in December 2024 is that rebuild.

It has been extended four times since and passed its 800th performance on 23 September 2026.

The Dominion has been here before. We Will Rock You played twelve years in this building from 2002, and the critics did not like that either.

What's The Devil Wears Prada About?

Andy Sachs wants to be a journalist. What she gets is a job answering the phone for Miranda Priestly, editor of the fashion magazine Runway and the most feared woman in New York.

She takes it because a year with Miranda opens every door afterwards. Then the year starts charging her for it: her evenings first, then her boyfriend, then her idea of what she came to New York to do.

The plot is the film's, staged, with the scenes you remember in the order you remember them. Miranda is modelled on Anna Wintour. Lauren Weisberger, who wrote the novel it all started with, worked at Vogue.

The songs include House of Miranda, How to Survive at Runway, In or Out, Who's She?, Seen, Bon Voyage, What's Right for Me? and the title number. Paris, City of Dreams comes in the second act, and the finale is a five-minute Gigamix.

Best Seats for The Devil Wears Prada

Book the Stalls. The Dominion has only two levels, the Stalls and the Circle, and the Stalls is the better one for this show.

Rows G to P in the centre of the Stalls are the best seats in the theatre. You are far enough back that the full width of the stage reads properly, which matters at a house this size, and close enough to see faces.

The sides of the Stalls are the value pick. They are usually cheaper than the middle of the same row, sometimes considerably, and the view is good. That is a price difference rather than a quality one.

If you want a raised view, rows B to E of the Circle are good.

Aisle seats in the Stalls come with a quirk that is covered in full in the Tickets and Best Seats tab: the show comes down those aisles, twice.

Every level is broken down there, and the whole auditorium is in our Dominion Theatre guide.

Call us on 020 7193 9050 and we will talk you through what is available.

Tickets and Best Seats for The Devil Wears Prada

The Dominion has two levels. The Stalls holds 1,305 seats across thirty rows, and the Circle holds 752. There are also two Boxes. For a theatre of this size that is an unusually simple layout, and it makes choosing easier than it looks.

The Stalls

This is where to sit for this show. The centre block from row G to row P is the part to aim for. The stage here is very wide and this production fills it, so a little distance works in your favour.

Rows A to D in the centre are sold as premium, with a further tier added at weekends. They are close, and for a show built on costume detail that is a real attraction, but you lose some of the picture.

The sides of the Stalls are where the value is. They cost noticeably less than the centre of the same row and the view is good. Some seats at the ends of the blocks in the front rows are sold at second price rather than premium, which is the best-value pocket in the Stalls.

Row A has nothing directly in front of it, which makes it the most generous row in the house for legroom.

The Circle

Rows B to E give the best raised view in the theatre. If you prefer looking down on a stage rather than across at it, that is the part of the Circle to be in.

The Circle is reached by stairs, and there are more stairs beyond the first flight for the back rows.

The aisles

The production uses the Stalls aisles as performance space at two points, once in each act, with performers entering down them under spotlights and loud sound effects. An aisle seat in the Stalls puts you right alongside that, which some people will want and some will not.

Prices

Tickets start from around £25 midweek. Most seats sell between £65 and £100. Premium starts from around £110. Weekend performances price differently from midweek.

Getting to the Dominion Theatre

The Dominion is at 268-269 Tottenham Court Road, London W1T 7AQ, on the corner where Tottenham Court Road meets New Oxford Street.

Tottenham Court Road station is directly outside, on the Central, Northern and Elizabeth lines. You come up out of the station and the theatre is in front of you.

Arrive 15 to 20 minutes before the performance, no later. Doors and bars open 45 minutes before. They get people in quickly here, so 15 to 20 minutes is genuinely enough.

The Box Office is open Monday to Saturday from midday to 7:45pm. In the 45 minutes before a performance it serves that performance only.

Programmes are £10. There is a second selling point at the cloakroom at the top of the right-hand staircase, which is usually quicker than the foyer.

Full details on buses, the auditorium, bars, access and everything nearby are in our Dominion Theatre guide.

The Devil Wears Prada Reviews

The critics were cool on this show. It has sold enormously well anyway.

Press night was 5 December 2024. The Standard gave it five stars and called it absolutely fabulous. The Express gave it four. The Times, the Sunday Times and the i Paper all gave it three. The Guardian, the Independent, the Telegraph, the FT, the Stage and WhatsOnStage all gave it two.

The negative reviews nearly all made the same two complaints: the score is forgettable and the adaptation sticks too closely to the film. The Stage said the wit and bite of the film are gone. The Daily Mail said the score could have been written by AI. Time Out, which does not give stars, called it a decent comedy but a lousy musical, and made the sharpest version of the point, that you would never guess Elton John was involved if you did not already know.

One thing was praised almost everywhere. Vanessa Williams was singled out by every review including the two-star ones, for the singing above all.

The costumes divided them, which for a show about a fashion magazine is the most surprising thing in the notices. The Standard called the ball scene's designs ravishing and the i Paper called them fabulous. The Guardian found them variable, WhatsOnStage called them deeply disappointing, and London Theatre called them garish and shapeless.

They could not agree on the dancing either. The i Paper called it naff and said the Dominion's stage was crying out for better dancing. The Standard said the production conquers the same stage.

None of it has made the slightest difference at the Box Office. The 800th performance was on 23 September 2026.

One caveat. Press night was December 2024 and the company has turned over since. Georgie Buckland and Amy Di Bartolomeo left in October 2025 and Vanessa Williams left on 19 September 2026. Anything the critics said about the writing, the songs or the dancing still applies. Anything they said about a particular performance may now be about somebody who has moved on.
