The Pit at the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse

The Pit is the floor of the theatre, in front of the stage only, with benches set slightly below stage level. It's the one level that faces the stage straight on, and it's where we'd sit.
The view
You look at the stage head-on, slightly up from the front rows. The actors often come and go through the Pit's aisles, so in some scenes they're beside you rather than in front.
Comfort
The benches are cushioned but have no backs, and there isn't much room for your legs. If you're tall, an aisle end helps.
