Where to Sit
The Playhouse is small, with seats in the Pit in front of the stage and two Galleries around it, so nobody is far from the actors. The Lower Gallery's Boxes are right beside the stage.
What's King John About?
England's favourite king, Richard the Lionheart, has died, and John takes the throne in his shadow. His claim is challenged, the French and the Pope line up against him, and John shows he'll do almost anything to keep the crown. The Globe calls it a play of "chaos, turbulence and power struggles across nations".
Jaz Woodcock-Stewart directs. She was Olivier-nominated for Paradise Now! at the Bush Theatre, and this is her first production at the Globe.
Who's It For?
Shakespeare fans ticking off a play that's rarely staged, and anyone who likes a history play about power. The Globe gives no age guidance, but the play includes violence, death, including the death of a child, and depictions of war. Under-16s must be with an adult.

Getting to the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse
The Playhouse is part of Shakespeare's Globe at 21 New Globe Walk, Bankside, SE1 9DT, beside Tate Modern on the river. Blackfriars and Mansion House stations are about 10 minutes' walk, London Bridge 10 to 15. The Millennium Bridge lands 50 metres from the entrance.
The 344 stops at Southwark Bridge, about two minutes away, and the 381 on Southwark Street, about five. Over the river, the 11, 15, 17 and 26 stop at Mansion House and the 45, 63 and 100 at Blackfriars Bridge.
Latecomers may wait until a suitable point and sit elsewhere until the interval, and late entry isn't guaranteed, so arrive 15 to 20 minutes before, no later. More in our Sam Wanamaker Playhouse guide.
