The Playhouse is wheelchair accessible, and it shares its entrance, lift and facilities with the Globe next door.

Access bookings are handled by the Globe, not by us. Book access seats directly with the theatre through its official site.

The wheelchair position

The wheelchair position is in Box A of the Lower Gallery, reached by a door on the piazza level, with a seat beside it for a companion.

Getting in and around

The lift is to the right of the Welcome Desk in the main foyer. There are four accessible toilets on the site, an induction loop in the Playhouse, and a quiet space in the Upper Foyer. Hearing enhancers and ear defenders are available from the Welcome Desk, and assistance dogs are welcome.

The Globe runs a free Access Scheme, with seating advice for most performances, which you join and book through the Globe. There's more on the site as a whole in our guide to access at the Globe.

What you can take in

  • Bags no bigger than 40cm by 35cm by 19cm, and there's very little room for them inside, so use the cloakroom (£2.50 an item, when it's running)
  • Your own food, but nothing hot, noisy or strong-smelling, and no glass or porcelain
  • Under-16s must be with an adult over 18 and can't sit separately
  • The site is cashless
  • No photos or filming during the performance
