From the floor up, the Hall has the Arena, the raked Stalls round it, three tiers of Boxes, the Rausing Circle, and the standing Gallery at the very top. The Choir seats sit behind the stage, in front of the organ.
There's no fixed stage. Most concerts have it at one end, in front of the organ. For Cirque du Soleil, and some ballet and opera, the show happens on the Arena floor with the audience all the way round, and the best seats change with it.
Best seats for a concert
- Best seats: the Stalls blocks facing the stage, H and M first, then J and L. They're raked, and the seats swivel towards the stage
- Closest: the front rows of the Arena, if it's an event where people stay seated. At a gig where everyone stands, take the Stalls instead
- Best value: the front of the Rausing Circle, in the blocks nearest the stage that face it, if you're happy with the height and a tight squeeze
- Think twice: the back rows of a Box, the Choir for a singer who'll have their back to you, and the Arena past about row 10
Best seats in the round
- Best seats: the Stalls, anywhere round the ring
- For the aerial acts: the front row of a Grand Tier or Second Tier Box
- Best value: the front of the Rausing Circle at the far end, blocks T and U
- Think twice: any seat behind the band or the set. Each show puts these somewhere different, so ask us before you buy
Standing
For the Proms and some gigs, the Arena is a standing floor, which gets you closest, and the Gallery at the top is always standing.
Taller? The best seats for legroom
The Stalls have good legroom everywhere, and the Arena uses ordinary chairs. The Rausing Circle is the tightest in the Hall, where an aisle seat gives you room for one leg. In a Box the chairs move, so the back row has the most room, but also the worst view.
