The Hall is on the edge of Kensington Gardens, with fewer restaurants on its doorstep than a West End theatre. Our picks are inside the Hall, on Queen's Gate across the road, and down by South Kensington station.
Eat
Verdi Italian Kitchen (inside the Hall). Pizza and pasta, relaxed and good with children, and you can't get closer to your seat. It opens from midday on event days, and from about 5pm on Mondays. Book ahead for an evening event.
190 Queen's Gate (about 3 minutes). The restaurant at The Gore hotel, across Kensington Gore on Queen's Gate, for British classics. The closest proper restaurant outside the Hall.
Daquise (about 13 minutes). Thurloe Street, by South Kensington station. London's oldest Polish restaurant, open since 1947, for pierogi on the way up from the tube. It's closed on Mondays.
Drink
The Queen's Arms (about 4 minutes). Queen's Gate Mews, round the corner from the back of the Hall. A proper pub in a cobbled mews, with cask ale, and the Hall's local.
Bar 190 (about 3 minutes). The wood-panelled cocktail bar at The Gore, quieter than the pub.
The Café Bar and the 1871 Bar (inside the Hall). The Café Bar is open from 9am on show days, so it's somewhere to wait between a matinee and an evening show. The 1871 Bar does cocktails before the show.
Stay
The Gore (about 3 minutes). A Victorian townhouse hotel on Queen's Gate, and the nearest hotel to the Hall.
The Ampersand (about 12 minutes). Harrington Road, by South Kensington station. A smart boutique hotel, handy for the tube and the museums the next morning.
Royal Garden Hotel (about 13 minutes). Kensington High Street, by Kensington Gardens. A big, reliable hotel near High Street Kensington station.
