Access at the Tom Stoppard Theatre
Access bookings here are handled by the theatre's own access team, not by us. Their contact details, and the free membership scheme you need to book accessible seats online, are on ATG's website.
There is no lift in the theatre, and only one level, the Royal Circle, is reached without steps.
How many steps to each level
- Royal Circle: 0 steps, level with the street, the Box Office and the foyer
- Stalls: 24 steps down
- Upper Circle: 23 steps up
If stairs are hard but you do not use a wheelchair, book the Royal Circle, and order drinks to your seat with the QR codes around the theatre rather than climbing to a bar.
Wheelchair spaces
Both wheelchair spaces are in the Royal Circle, and a companion can sit beside each. No more than two wheelchairs can be accommodated at a performance.
The two options see the stage differently. From the wheelchair spaces in row C of the Royal Circle, the view of the stage is restricted. If you can transfer into a seat in row D, the view is clear, and staff look after your chair in the foyer while you watch.
The spaces differ in width. As you face the stage, the right-hand space is 85.5cm wide and the left-hand space is 91cm.
Toilets
The accessible toilet needs no steps. It is on the right-hand side of the main foyer, across from one of the entrances to the Royal Circle. Inside it measures 87.5cm wide by 135cm deep.
Hearing
An infrared system covers the auditorium, with loop and conventional headsets. Ask the venue's access team about headsets, and which seats pick up the signal best, when you book.
Seats built on the stage for a production are out of the infrared system's range. There, Mobile Connect takes over through an app on your own phone, so arrive with it charged, the app installed and headphones of your own.
Assistance dogs
Up to two assistance dogs can be admitted at each performance, for customers booking an aisle seat. If you would rather not keep your dog with you, staff will mind it in the foyer during the show.
Access performances
Captioned, audio-described and other access performances are scheduled production by production, and ATG publishes them on its website. For the current show, see the RENT page.
Booking an access ticket
Book accessible seats and companion tickets directly with the theatre's access team. Joining ATG's free Access Membership Scheme lets you book those seats online, and a Nimbus Access Card or Hynt card is the fastest way to register.
