Kiln Theatre, London

The Kiln Theatre is on Kilburn High Road in North West London, three to five minutes' walk from Brondesbury station and five to seven from Kilburn on the Jubilee line. Until 2018 it was called the Tricycle Theatre. It has 290 seats over two levels, the Stalls and the Circle, and it puts on its own productions, mostly new plays, in runs of a few weeks.

Choosing seats? It's a small, steep theatre, so you're close to the stage almost wherever you sit. We'd book the middle of the Stalls, around rows F to J, or rows C to E of the Circle for value. Think twice about the front three rows of the Stalls, which are flat on the floor, and the side seats, which look at the stage side-on.

Already booked? Arrive 15 to 20 minutes before, no later. The café is closed, but the bar sells pizza before the show. The Circle is up stairs only, and children under six aren't admitted, except at children's shows.

Each level has its own page, the Stalls and the Circle, and both are side by side on the seating plan. Then there's how to get here, access and the bar, restaurants, pubs and hotels nearby and more about the Kiln.

Kiln Theatre FAQs

Is the Kiln Theatre the same as the Tricycle Theatre?

Yes, it's the same theatre on Kilburn High Road. It opened as the Tricycle in 1980 and was renamed the Kiln in 2018, at the end of a two-year rebuild. The building is also home to the Kiln Cinema, which used to be the Tricycle Cinema.

How many seats does the Kiln Theatre have?

290, over the Stalls and the Circle. The Kiln can rearrange its seating for a production, so the number on sale can move a little from show to show.

Does the Kiln Theatre use understudies?

No. If an actor is off, the performance can be cancelled, and if the Kiln cancels, you get your money back.

Can I eat at the Kiln Theatre?

The café is closed, but the Kiln Bar sells 11-inch wood-fired pizzas before the show, plus sausage rolls, vegan rolls and Jamaican patties. It opens at 5:30pm on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, and at 1pm on Wednesday and Saturday.

Can I book by phone?

Yes, on 020 7193 9050. You'll speak to a real person who can talk you through the seats, and the price we quote is the price you pay.
