Four levels, one above the other: the Stalls, the Dress Circle, the Upper Circle and, right at the top, the Gallery. The Boxes are in the Dress Circle. Stalls and Dress Circle go in through the main doors on Mare Street; Upper Circle and Gallery through the side entrance on Wilton Way.

Where to sit, by budget

  • For a family at the panto: the centre of the Stalls, rows D to G. Close enough to join in, far enough back to see the whole set
  • Most comfortable: the Dress Circle, which has the most legroom in the building
  • Best value: the front of the Upper Circle, with a full view of the stage
  • Think twice: the Gallery with children, the far ends of rows A and B in both circles, and the table seats at the back of the Stalls if you don't want to sit sideways

Seating Plan FAQs

What are the best seats at Hackney Empire?

The centre of the Stalls, rows D to G. You're close enough for the shouting back at the panto and still see the whole stage. For legroom, the Dress Circle beats it.

Is it better to sit in the Stalls or the Circle?

The Stalls, for the panto, because some of the action comes down among the audience and you lose it from higher up. For a gig or a play, the Dress Circle is as good a view with more legroom.
