Wyndham's Theatre, London

Wyndham's Theatre is on Charing Cross Road, right next to Leicester Square station, a small theatre with around 750 seats over three levels. Hay Fever is playing now, with Christine Baranski and Richard E. Grant.

Still choosing seats? The front and centre of the Royal Circle is the best view in the building, and the central Stalls put you closest to the stage. The value is the front of the Grand Circle, which is steep but sees everything, though it's tight for legroom if you're tall. Be careful with the back of the Stalls, from row N: from there the Royal Circle above starts taking the top of the stage off you.

Already booked? Arrive 15 to 20 minutes before, no later, because there's a bag check at the door. The cloakroom takes coats and small bags but not suitcases, and you can't bring in food or drink bought elsewhere.

What's On at Wyndham's Theatre

Hay Fever runs until Saturday 12 December 2026. It's Noël Coward's 1925 comedy, with Christine Baranski making her West End debut as Judith Bliss opposite Richard E. Grant as her husband David, directed by Emily Burns. Judith has retired from the stage and misses the applause, so she invites a young fan down to the family's country home for the weekend, without knowing that everyone else in the family has invited a guest too.

It runs 2 hours 20 minutes including one interval, Monday to Saturday at 7:30pm, with matinees on Wednesday and Saturday at 2:30pm. Under-3s aren't admitted, and it contains flashing lights and cigarette smoking.

Coming next:

  • Christmas Carol Goes Wrong, 18 December 2026 to 23 January 2027, from the team behind The Play That Goes Wrong. Recommended for ages 8 and over, and it plays on Sundays too
  • John Proctor Is the Villain, 2 February to 24 April 2027. It runs 1 hour 45 minutes with no interval, and it's recommended for ages 12 and over

Ticket prices

What you pay here is set by the production far more than by the seat. A straight play at Wyndham's typically starts from around £30, with good seats at around £60 to £80. A star-led limited run goes well beyond that: for Hay Fever, the top seats run to around £195 midweek and around £225 at the weekend.

All-in pricing, the price you see is what you pay. A restricted-view seat is always marked as one before you buy, and if you want to know whether moving up a price band is worth it on your date, call us and we'll tell you.

Wyndham's Theatre FAQs

How many seats does Wyndham's Theatre have?

Around 750, across three levels: the Stalls, the Royal Circle and the Grand Circle, plus eight Boxes beside the stage. Some seating plans split the raised back of the Grand Circle off and call it a Balcony, which makes it look like four levels. It's one Grand Circle with a steeper back section.

Is there a student discount at Wyndham's Theatre?

Not for individuals, no. There's no student standby, under-30 scheme or walk-up concession at Wyndham's, or at any of the other theatres run by the same group. If you've read otherwise, it came from a voucher-code site.

School and college groups are the exception, and it depends on which show you're coming for. Education rates are set production by production rather than by the theatre, so some runs here are in the scheme and some aren't, the eligible performances differ from show to show, and it needs a group booking. Call us on 020 7193 9050 with your show and your dates and we'll tell you where it stands.

Can I take food and drink into Wyndham's Theatre?

Food and drink bought elsewhere isn't allowed in, and neither is alcohol you've brought yourself. The three bars sell drinks and snacks but no hot food, and a drink from the bar can go into the auditorium with you in plastic, not glass.

Can I take a bag in?

Yes, but everything is checked on the way in, so the lighter you travel, the quicker you're through. The cloakroom takes coats and small bags for a small charge. It can't take suitcases or larger bags, so if you're coming straight off a train, sort the case out before you arrive. Bikes, including folding ones, can't be left anywhere in the theatre.

Can I bring children?

Yes. Everyone needs their own ticket, whatever their age, and anyone under 16 has to sit next to an adult aged 18 or over. Under-3s aren't admitted. Age guidance is set by each show: Hay Fever's own page gives none beyond that, Christmas Carol Goes Wrong is 8 and over, and John Proctor Is the Villain is 12 and over.

Is Wyndham's Theatre air conditioned?

Yes, throughout the auditorium, though the highest seats in the Grand Circle can still get warm in summer.

Is there a dress code at Wyndham's Theatre?

No, there's no dress code. Come in whatever you're comfortable in.

What time does Hay Fever finish?

It runs 2 hours 20 minutes including one interval, so a 7:30pm start comes down at about 9:50pm and a 2:30pm matinee at about 4:50pm.

What time does the Box Office open?

From 2 hours 30 minutes before the show until 15 minutes after curtain up, and on matinee days it stays open between the two shows. You don't need to go there to buy: book with us online or call 020 7193 9050.

Can I change or cancel my tickets?

Theatre tickets are generally sold as non-refundable, and what you can change depends on who you bought from. If you booked with us, call 020 7193 9050 and we'll tell you exactly what your booking allows. If you booked somewhere else, get in touch with whoever you bought your tickets from.

Can I book by phone?

Yes. Call 020 7193 9050 and a real person will help you pick seats and book them. It's the easiest way to sort group seats, or anything you'd rather talk through than work out from a plan. The price we tell you on the phone is the price you pay.
