Vaudeville Theatre, London

The Vaudeville Theatre is on the Strand, between Charing Cross and Covent Garden, and it's home to SIX. It has 662 seats over three levels, the Stalls, the Dress Circle and the Grand Circle, which makes it one of the smaller theatres in the West End. The rows run in straight lines rather than curving round, so almost everyone looks straight at the stage, and every Stalls seat has a decent view, right to the back row.

The two things to think about before you pick are the sound desk in the rear Stalls and the pillars in the Dress Circle, and neither is much of a problem.

Still choosing seats? The best seats are in the centre of the Stalls, rows D to G, with the centre of the Dress Circle close behind. For less money, the back of the Stalls is the one most people overlook.

Already booked? Almost every row is a single block with no aisle, so you'll be getting in from the end of the row. There are security checks at the door, so arrive 15 to 20 minutes before, no later.

Each level has its own page: the Stalls, the Dress Circle and the Grand Circle, with all three side by side on the seating plan, and the Boxes after them. Then there's how to get here, access, bars and toilets, restaurants, bars and hotels nearby and more about the theatre.

What's On at the Vaudeville Theatre

SIX is booking until Sunday 28 November 2027. The six wives of Henry VIII take the stage as a pop group, backed by an all-female band, and tell their side of the story. It's been here since 2021.

It's staged like a live pop concert, with each queen taking her turn with her own song, from the opening Ex-Wives to Don't Lose Your Head and All You Wanna Do. Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss wrote it, and it won the Tony Award for Best Score on Broadway in 2022. Expect strobe, haze and loud music throughout, and some adult themes under the jokes, including miscarriage and physical and sexual trauma.

It runs 80 minutes with no interval, and the age guidance is 10+. Performances are at 8pm on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, at 4pm and 8pm on Thursday and Saturday, and at 3pm and 7pm on Sunday, so after an 8pm start you're out at about 9:20pm. There's no SIX on a Monday.

On Monday nights the theatre hosts Austentatious, an improvised Jane Austen comedy, with dates announced up to Monday 14 December 2026.

Ticket prices

For SIX, tickets start from around £35. The cheapest seats cost the same whether you come on a Tuesday or a Saturday: the weekend increase falls on the more expensive seats only, £10 a seat on the top two price bands. So if you're buying at the budget end there's no reason to avoid the weekend, and if you're buying at the top end, midweek saves you money on every ticket.

Vaudeville Theatre FAQs

How many seats does the Vaudeville Theatre have?

The current plan has 662 seats. The Stalls hold 310, the Dress Circle 188, the Grand Circle 156 and the Boxes 8. Without the sound desk in the Stalls, which some productions don't need, it can take around 690.

What's on at the Vaudeville Theatre?

SIX, booking until 28 November 2027, and Austentatious on Monday nights, with dates announced up to 14 December 2026.

What is the dress code?

There isn't one. Jeans are fine. SIX is quite a relaxed show, so anything goes. Some people even dress up like the Queens on stage!

Can I take food and drink in?

Only food and drink bought in the theatre. A sealed bottle of water is fine, and every bar will refill it for free. The bars sell drinks, ice cream and sweets, but there's no hot food, so eat before you come.

Can I take a bag in?

Yes. Bags are searched at the door. There's a small cloakroom that takes large bags and suitcases for a small charge, during the performance only. Buggies can't go into the auditorium; they go in the cloakroom or the buggy park.

Can I bring children?

Children up to 14 need an adult, 18 or over, in the seat next to them. SIX is recommended for ages 10 and up. Every person, babies included, needs a ticket and a seat they can sit in by themselves.

Can I buy tickets at the Box Office on the day?

Yes, if there's anything left. The Box Office opens at 12pm on performance days and stays open until the evening show starts. Book with us instead and it's all-in pricing, so the price you see is what you pay.
