One level up from the Orchestra Stalls, the Stalls Circle is only four rows deep, A to D, and very wide. It runs round both sides of the auditorium towards the stage, so where you sit along it matters more than which row you're in. It's one of the most expensive levels in the building.
Where we'd put you
Row A, in the centre. You're just above the Orchestra Stalls, close to the stage and the orchestra pit, with nothing in front of you but the rail. The further round the curve you go, the more you see the stage from the side, which matters much more for a ballet than an opera.
What to think twice about
- Rows C and D, the back two. The level above hangs over them and cuts off the top of the stage, and on some performances they aren't sold at all.
- Space for a bag. There isn't much, so travel light or use the free cloakroom.
Getting to your seat, drinks and toilets
There are lifts to this level and some seats are step-free from them, with a few steps up or down to others. The access page explains how to book. There are toilets on every floor, and you can order interval drinks at any bar when you arrive.
Stalls Circle FAQs
Does the Stalls Circle have Boxes?
No. The Boxes at the Royal Opera House are on the Grand Tier and the Balcony. The long rows down the sides of the Stalls Circle are ordinary seats.
