The Bush doesn't have one seating plan. Both of its spaces are rebuilt around each production, so the plan you book from is drawn for that show. It might be end-on, a thrust with the audience on three sides, or in the round.

What stays the same is the size. You're never more than a few metres from the stage in either space, and there are no upper levels or Boxes. Seats are set out in lettered Blocks, A, B and C in the Holloway Theatre, each with rows starting from A.

How to choose, in booking order

  1. Open the plan for your date. It shows which way the stage faces for that show. Most Bush shows put the audience on two or three sides.
  2. Choose a Block. For a straight-on view, book the Block facing the front of the stage. The side Blocks look across the action, which at this size still puts you close, but you'll see some scenes in profile.
  3. Decide on the front row. Row A of any Block is very close, sometimes right at the edge of the playing area, and actors may use the aisles to come and go. Book it if you want to be in the middle of it, and skip it if you'd rather watch from a step back.
  4. Don't worry about the back row. In a space this size, the last row of a Block is still close, and it's higher up, so you see the whole stage.

Holloway Theatre

The Bush's main space, with 160 to 220 seats depending on the layout. Plans usually show three Blocks, A, B and C. The seats are fixed, 53cm wide and 43cm deep, with no armrests. If those don't suit you, the Bush can swap in a freestanding seat when you ask in advance.

On a BSL-interpreted performance, the interpreter usually stands to the right of the stage as you face it, so the best view is from the low-numbered seats in Block B.

Studio

The smaller space, with around 60 to 70 seats, usually arranged on three sides of the stage. The seats are narrower than in the Holloway Theatre, 45cm wide and 44cm deep, again with no armrests, and freestanding seats are available on request.

The seating plan

The plan for each show appears when you choose a date. Tap a Block to see prices and pick your seats, or call us on 020 7193 9050 and we'll talk you through it.

Seating Plan FAQs

How many seats does the Bush Theatre have?

The Holloway Theatre seats 160 to 220 and the Studio around 60 to 70. The number changes because the layout is rebuilt for each show.

Are there restricted views at the Bush Theatre?

The Bush doesn't publish any. Both spaces have level floors with the seating built up around the stage, and the main trade-off is the angle: from a side Block you watch some scenes from the side.
