By tube
The nearest tube is Victoria, on the Victoria, District and Circle lines, 1 to 2 minutes away. Come out on the Wilton Road side and the theatre is in front of you.
By train
Trains from Brighton, Gatwick, Kent and most of South London come straight into London Victoria, on Southern, Southeastern and the Gatwick Express, so there's no change to make.
The Gatwick Express takes about 30 minutes and puts you across the road from the door, which makes this an easy theatre to build a trip around if you're flying in and out.
By coach
Victoria Coach Station is about 8 minutes on foot, along Buckingham Palace Road. Coach parties and groups of ten or more use the Vauxhall Bridge Road entrance.
By bus
The 2, 36 and 185 stop at Neathouse Place on Vauxhall Bridge Road, right by the theatre, and the 24 and 26 stop outside the station on Wilton Road, across from the front door. Every other route stops around Victoria station or at the bus station, no more than two minutes away.
- From North London: the 13 (Golders Green, St John's Wood and Baker Street), the 24 (Camden Town and Tottenham Court Road) and the 390 (Archway, King's Cross and Oxford Circus)
- From West London: the 6 (Willesden and Edgware Road), the 36 (Queen's Park and Paddington), the 52 (Ladbroke Grove, Notting Hill and Knightsbridge), the 148 (Shepherd's Bush and Notting Hill Gate) and the C1 (White City, Earls Court and South Kensington)
- From the City and East London: the 26 (Hackney, Liverpool Street and St Paul's)
- From Chelsea and Fulham: the 11 (Fulham, Chelsea and Sloane Square) and the 170 (Wandsworth, Clapham Junction and Battersea)
- From South London: the 2 (Brixton and Vauxhall), the 3 (Crystal Palace and Brixton), the 36 and 185 (Camberwell and Oval), and the 44 (Tooting and Wandsworth)
- From Waterloo and the South Bank: the 11, the 148 and the C10 (Elephant & Castle and Waterloo)
Late at night, the N2, N11, N26, N32, N44 and N136 run from the same stops.
By car
There's no parking at the theatre, and no street parking outside. The nearest car parks, both open 24 hours:
- Semley Place, run by Apex Parking, by the coach station, about 10 minutes' walk
- Q-Park Pimlico, Cumberland Street, about 12 minutes' walk
You're inside the Congestion Charge zone, which runs 7am to 6pm on weekdays and midday to 6pm at weekends and on bank holidays, so arrive after 6pm for an evening performance and you won't pay it, though a matinee falls inside it. ULEZ runs at all hours, but most petrol cars from around 2006 and diesels from around 2015 meet the standard and pay nothing.
Walking from elsewhere
Buckingham Palace is about 8 minutes away, Westminster Abbey about 15 and Parliament about 20. The Victoria Palace Theatre is about 5 minutes away, on Victoria Street.
What time to arrive
Arrive 25 to 30 minutes before, no later. Bags may be checked at the door and there are 2,328 seats to fill, plenty of them with children in, so the queues build. Use the time to order your interval drinks and look round the merchandise stands. The building opens 90 minutes before the show.
Arrive late and staff hold you outside until a suitable break, which comes about 25 minutes into Wicked, so you'd miss the opening number.
