Two levels, and only two: the Stalls, which are below the foyer, and the Dress Circle above them. There's no Upper Circle, no Balcony and no Boxes. The building started out in 1930 as a cinema, and that's where the width comes from, along with seats set straight behind each other instead of staggered.

Always check the level, not just the row

Every row letter here appears twice, once in the Stalls and once in the Dress Circle, so there's a Stalls row P and a Dress Circle row P. When you're comparing seats or repeating a row back to someone, the letter on its own means nothing. Always carry the level with it.

There's also no row I and no row V on either level, which trips people up counting rows on a plan.

The levels at a glance

  • Stalls, rows A to Z and then ZA to ZJ, 1,298 seats. The level we recommend, with row Q the pick of the building and the back rows the value
  • Dress Circle, rows A to Y, 1,030 seats. From the front block, rows A to F, you get the whole stage in one view; behind it, the distance tells

Where the overhang starts

The Dress Circle is overhead from Stalls row Q, but the top of the stage only starts to go from about row W. What the back rows lose is a little of the flying, and the rest of the stage stays in view. The Stalls page has what that means in Wicked.

Restricted view seats

What costs you view here is the angle at the sides and the rails upstairs. The outer seats in the front side blocks of the Stalls sit outside the line of the stage opening. Upstairs, row G of the Dress Circle sits behind ironwork, a safety bar runs in front of row P, and the seats beside the stairwells in the middle and back of the level lose some of the stage.

Taller? The best seats for legroom

Stalls row Q is the roomiest row in the building: a walkway runs across in front of it, so there's no row ahead of you at all. In the Stalls, avoid rows B and C, which are the tightest on the level. Upstairs, the Dress Circle's front block, rows A to F, suits people up to about 5ft 10.

Step-free seating

The Dress Circle only, from the entrance on Vauxhall Bridge Road. The Stalls are 33 steps down with no lift. The access page has the detail.

The seating plan

The plan shows both levels. Tap a section to see what's left on your date and what it costs, then pick your seat from there.

Call us on 020 7193 9050 and we'll talk you through any seat in the building.

Seating Plan FAQs

Which seats are best at the Apollo Victoria Theatre?

Nobody sits directly in front of Stalls row Q, because a walkway runs across the level there, so a seat in the middle of that row is the one we'd book first. Next best are the middle seats of Stalls rows F to P, then the middle of the Dress Circle's front block.

Is it better to sit in the Stalls or the Dress Circle?

The Stalls, as a general rule, and the whole of the Stalls sees the stage. If you do go up, sit in the centre of the Dress Circle's front block, rows C to F. Behind that you're a long way from the stage.
