Access and Facilities at the Apollo Victoria Theatre

Now playing: Wicked From £30 Book tickets

If steps are a problem, skip the main doors on Wilton Road and head round to Vauxhall Bridge Road, behind the theatre. That entrance takes you to the Dress Circle, not the Stalls. Nothing step-free reaches the Stalls, which sit 33 steps below the foyer, so the Dress Circle is the level to book.

Access bookings and questions about specific requirements are handled by the venue, not by us. Go through the access team on the theatre's official site, and they can allocate the right space.

Arriving

Arrive 30 to 45 minutes before the show at the Vauxhall Bridge Road entrance and tell Front of House you're there. An Access Host takes you on a step-free route into the Dress Circle, with staff help. The route can't be used once the show has started.

Wheelchair spaces

Row F of the Dress Circle has four, two at each end, each paired with a seat for a companion, though two of those companion seats aren't right beside the wheelchair space. A wheelchair up to 72cm wide and 93cm long, and up to 150kg including you, fits the spaces. Spaces must be booked in advance.

Transfer seating is in row F too: staff store your wheelchair during the show and bring it back when you need it.

If you can manage some stairs

Dress Circle row F is 17 steps up from the foyer, with handrails, and some row F seats are held for people who can manage only a few stairs. Inside the Dress Circle there are three small steps between each row, without a handrail. The rows behind row F are 37 steps up.

Accessible toilets

There's an adapted toilet in the main foyer, step-free once you're inside. There's no Changing Places toilet in the theatre. The nearest is in Victoria station, across the road.

Hearing and sight

Sennheiser MobileConnect carries the sound to every seat. Use your own phone and headphones, or a compatible hearing aid or implant, or borrow one of the theatre's ten devices and a pair of headphones for free. Ask any member of staff.

At audio-described performances, the description comes through the same system, so any seat works. Large-print and Braille cast lists can be requested when you book. Wicked has audio-described, captioned and signed performances during the run, and the venue's access team has the dates.

The theatre publishes a visual story for autistic visitors and anyone anxious about a visit, and a guide to the loud noises, flashing lights, smoke and strobe in Wicked is available from the Box Office.

Assistance dogs

Welcome in the auditorium, or staff will look after your dog during the show. These seats can't be booked online, so go through the access team.

Bars

There are bars in the foyer, at the back of the Stalls and in the Dress Circle, open to ticket holders from 90 minutes before the show. The foyer bar is the step-free one. They serve cocktails, wine, beer, popcorn and ice cream, and you can also order to your seat with the QR codes around the theatre. There's space set aside to order your interval drinks when you arrive, so they're waiting for you rather than queued for. The theatre is cashless, so bring a card or phone.

Toilets

On every level. The Ladies queue is long at the interval.

Cloakroom

There isn't one. Coats and small bags go under your seat.

Merchandise

Wicked merchandise is sold at kiosks before and after every performance and during the interval.
