Access and Facilities at the Victoria Palace Theatre

Now playing: Hamilton From £24 Book tickets

If you need to avoid steps, skip the main doors on Victoria Street. Allington Street, on the left of the building as you face it, has the level entrance, into the back of the Stalls. That's also the only level without stairs, as no lift serves the Royal Circle or the Grand Circle.

Access bookings and questions about specific requirements are handled by the venue, not by us. Go through the access team on the theatre's official site, and they can allocate the right space.

Arriving

On arrival, find a member of staff: an Access Host will show you to your seat.

From the main foyer it's four steps down into the Stalls, a staircase up to the Royal Circle, and about five flights to the Grand Circle.

Wheelchair spaces

Wheelchair users sit in two Boxes behind the back row of the Stalls, A and F. Each has room for two wheelchairs plus a companion for each, and its door is 80cm wide. Transfer seating is on the Stalls aisles. Neither Circle has a wheelchair space.

Accessible toilets

You'll find one by the Allington Street entrance, at the rear of the Stalls, and a second inside Pavlova's Bar. After using the Pavlova's Bar one, you come back into the Stalls via Allington Street.

Hearing and sight

The theatre uses Auracast, which covers the whole auditorium. Receivers are handed out at the cloakroom before the show, with headphones or a personal induction loop, or connect an Auracast hearing aid straight to the signal through your phone's Bluetooth settings.

At every Hamilton performance you can also get captions or audio description on your own phone, through the GalaPro app.

The theatre also publishes a visual story, as a video and to print, for autistic visitors and anyone anxious about a visit.

Assistance dogs

Welcome in the auditorium, and staff will look after your dog during the show if you'd rather. Emotional support animals aren't guaranteed entry.

Parking

Disabled bays are nearby on Carlisle Place.

Bars

There's a licensed bar on every level, one of them Pavlova's Bar, open to ticket holders from 45 minutes to an hour before the show. They serve drinks and snacks, but no hot food. The theatre is cashless, so bring a card or phone. Pre-ordering your interval drink is the easy way round the queue.

Toilets

On every level of the auditorium.

Cloakroom and bags

Bags are searched at the door. For a small fee the cloakroom will hold a coat or a small bag, but it won't take anything larger, so a suitcase belongs in the left luggage office at Victoria station.

Merchandise

There are Hamilton merchandise kiosks on every level.

Tips for the night

  • For the middle of a row, aim for seats in the twenties in the Stalls and in the high teens and low twenties in the Royal Circle.

Access FAQs

Is the Victoria Palace Theatre wheelchair accessible?

The Stalls are, through the step-free entrance on Allington Street, with wheelchair spaces in Stalls Boxes A and F. The Royal Circle and Grand Circle are reached only by stairs. Accessible tickets are booked through the venue's own access team.

Is there a lift at the Victoria Palace Theatre?

No. Both Circles are up the stairs, and even the Stalls are four steps down from the main foyer, so use the Allington Street entrance if you need to avoid steps.
