Gallery at the Theatre Royal Haymarket
The Gallery is for anyone who wants the cheapest seat in the building and doesn't mind a climb and a bench to get it. It's the top level, above and behind the Upper Circle: seven rows, A to G, 65 steps up.
What it's like, and where to sit
It's high and steep, and the seats are benches with fixed armrests rather than separate seats, so it's a tight squeeze. It's not the comfiest seat in the West End, but it's usually a good bit cheaper, and you look at the stage straight on.
The centre of row A is the one to book. It's the Gallery's roomiest row, and with no one in front of you, the view is clear. Each row back puts you further from the stage.
It gets hot up here on a summer night, and the stair to the top is long and narrow, so it isn't the level for anyone who dislikes heights or finds stairs hard. The Gallery and the Upper Circle share a bar and toilets.
Gallery FAQs
What is the view from the Gallery?
You look down on the whole stage from the top of the theatre. It's a long way from the actors, but the Gallery sits straight on to the stage rather than round the sides.
