Access and Facilities at the Theatre Royal Haymarket
There's no lift at the Theatre Royal Haymarket, so the Stalls are the only level you can reach without stairs, through a separate step-free entrance at the front of the building.
Access bookings are handled by the venue's own team, not by us, and access seats and wheelchair spaces can't be booked online.
The step-free way in
The central main doors have three steps up to the foyer. To get in without steps, use the side doors at the front of the theatre, facing Haymarket. They're opened from 30 minutes before curtain up: tell the Duty Manager or the Box Office when you get there.
Cars and taxis can pull up outside on Haymarket. For Blue Badge parking, see how to get here.
Steps to each level
- Main entrance: three steps up into the foyer
- Stalls: 30 steps down from the foyer
- Royal Circle: 24 steps up
- Upper Circle and Gallery: 65 steps up
The staircases have handrails on both sides, and if stairs are hard, the theatre suggests a Stalls seat. There's no lift to any level.
Wheelchair spaces and the accessible toilet
There are two wheelchair spaces, at the back of the Stalls. If you'd rather transfer, a Stalls aisle seat can be booked instead, subject to availability. The one adapted toilet is at the back of the Stalls too, step-free from the wheelchair spaces.
Hearing support and assistance dogs
Infra-red headsets are handed out in the foyer before the show, along with adaptors for hearing aids on the T setting.
Guide and hearing dogs can come into the auditorium with you; book an aisle seat. Staff will look after a dog during the performance if you prefer. For any other service dog, the theatre must agree it in advance.
Captioned, audio-described and relaxed performances
- The Standard of Living: captioned, Wednesday 28 October 2026 at 7pm (the captioned seats have sold out); audio-described, Wednesday 11 November 2026 at 7pm
- Peppa Pig's Big Family Show!: relaxed performances on Monday 7 December 2026 at 1:30pm and Saturday 2 January 2027 at 1pm
Bars and toilets
There are three bars, one for each part of the theatre: the Stalls Bar, 14 steps below the Stalls; the Royal Circle Bar, on the same level as its seats; and the Upper Circle and Gallery Bar, 3 steps up. Each opens half an hour before curtain up and again at the interval, and none takes cash. Order your interval drinks when you arrive and they'll be ready for you.
The toilets, by level:
- Stalls: Ladies and Gents, plus the adapted toilet at the back
- Royal Circle: Ladies and Gents on the level; the Ladies is small
- Upper Circle and Gallery: Ladies and Gents, shared
Bags and the cloakroom
The cloakroom is small and won't take suitcases or large bags, so bring as little as you can. Handbags, small rucksacks and briefcases are fine, and you may be asked to open them at the door.
Access FAQs
Is the Theatre Royal Haymarket wheelchair accessible?
The Stalls are, through the step-free side doors on the Haymarket, with two wheelchair spaces at the back. There's no lift, so the other levels are stairs only. Access bookings go through the venue's own team.
