What It Was
An evening with Rory Stewart, built around his book Middleland, with an audience question section.
Lewis Goodall asked the questions, which is why it ran as a conversation rather than a lecture.
Who It Was For
- Listeners of The Rest Is Politics, which he has co-hosted with Alastair Campbell since 2022 and which is one of the biggest political podcasts in the country.
- Anyone who read Politics on the Edge, his memoir of Westminster, which went to number one in the Sunday Times chart.
- Readers of The Places in Between, the account of his walk across Afghanistan.
- Anyone who wanted to ask him something. The audience question section was part of the format.
- It was not a party-political rally. He left the Conservative Party in 2019 and the book is about rural Cumbria.

Where to Sit
The one-night events used the same seating as the resident musical.
The Stalls hold 1,305 and are ten steps down from the foyer. The Circle holds 752 and is 32 steps up, with no lift.
For a talk, the priority shifted. You were listening rather than watching staging, so the Circle was better value than it would have been for a musical, and being further back cost you less. If you wanted to ask a question, the Stalls put you where you could be seen.
Our Dominion Theatre guide has both levels in full.
