Access and Facilities at Sadler's Wells
4 shows on now · From £18 · See shows
Sadler's Wells was rebuilt in 1998 with lifts to every level, so most of the theatre is step-free. The step-free seats are in the Stalls and the First Circle; the Second Circle has steps to every seat.
Access bookings are handled by the venue's own Ticket Office, not by us. Arrange accessible seats and confirm the step-free route through the venue's official site before you travel.
Getting in and getting to your seat
There's level access to the auditorium, the bars and the cafe, and lifts to the First Circle, the Second Circle and the Mezzanine.
- Stalls: a step-free route, past the lifts with the auditorium doors on the left, takes you to row J and the side seats 1 to 6. The main entrance is at the back, with one step down for each row
- First Circle: take the lift for step-free access to row M, the back row, which is partly under the level above. Row A can also be reached step-free through the Mezzanine: ask a member of staff when you arrive. Otherwise it's two steps down per row from the back
- Second Circle: no step-free access to the seats. The entrance is two steps up to row F, then three steps per row down to the front or up to the back
Wheelchair spaces
There are four: three in the Stalls, in row K, and one in the First Circle, in row M.
Getting here step-free
Angel tube has no step-free access. Farringdon and King's Cross St Pancras do, and the 341 bus runs from Farringdon to the stop right outside. Blue Badge holders can use the theatre's small car park for free, booked through the theatre.
Hearing support
There's an audio loop at the Ticket Office counter and in the auditorium: switch your hearing aid to T.
Captioned, signed and audio-described performances
Each production sets its own dates for audio-described performances (with headsets from the Ticket Office, and touch tours before some), BSL-interpreted, captioned, relaxed and sensory-adapted performances. You'll find them on the show's page once they're announced.
Assistance dogs
Assistance dogs are welcome. The theatre suggests an aisle seat in the Stalls and asks you to let its Ticket Office know before your visit.
Bars and the cafe
There's a bar on every level, open an hour before the show, selling wine, beer, spirits, soft drinks, sandwiches, snacks, tea and coffee. Pay by card or phone where you can: the theatre is working towards being cashless.
The Fox Garden Court Cafe is open from 9am to 7:30pm on performance days, for hot and cold food, cakes and coffee before the show.
Bags, coats and children
- Bags are searched on the way in. Large rucksacks and suitcases aren't allowed
- The cloakroom takes coats and small items, for £1
- Drinks can go into the auditorium in plastic, not glass. Snacks are fine, hot food and packed lunches aren't
- Under-5s generally aren't admitted, and under-16s must be with an adult. Booster seats are very limited, so bring your own if you need one
- No photos or filming in the auditorium
