Dress Circle at the Garrick Theatre
The level we'd recommend as a general rule here. Five rows, A to E, in a single block, level with the foyer, so there are no stairs to reach it, and there's no aisle, so a central seat means passing along the row. It suits anyone who wants the whole stage in view, and anyone who'd rather avoid stairs, because it's the step-free level.
Row by row, front to back
Row A. A clear, close view over the front of the circle. There's a metal bar along the front, but only the shortest will notice it.
Rows B and C. Still in the front three, and still excellent from the centre. The centre of these two rows has the least legroom on the level, and the outermost seats are marked as restricted because the curve of the circle and the Boxes cut off the side of the stage.
Row D. A good row for most people, raised above the rows in front.
Row E. The back row feels a little separate from the stage, and the Grand Circle above feels low over it. The wheelchair space is in the centre of this row.
Where we'd put you, and what to avoid
The front three rows, A to C, as central as you can get them. It's the best all-round view in the theatre, looking straight at the whole stage over the front of the circle.
The seats to think twice about are the outermost ones in rows B and C, where the curve of the circle and the Boxes cut off a corner of the stage. They're marked as restricted, so they're only worth it if the discount makes up for what you lose. There are also small Boxes along the side walls at this level, but they aren't on sale for any of the announced shows, and they look at the stage side-on.
If you're tall, avoid the centre of rows B and C, which have the least room on the level, or go for the Stalls, where the legroom is better.
Getting there, drinks and toilets
There are no stairs inside, because the Dress Circle is level with the foyer. There are two small steps at the front door, and staff will put out a ramp if you need one; the access page has the detail. The Dress Circle bar is on this level, and so are the Ladies and Gents, the accessible toilet and the baby changing, which is inside the accessible toilet.
Dress Circle FAQs
Is the Dress Circle good at the Garrick Theatre?
Yes. The front three rows give the best overall view in the theatre, and it's the only level you can reach without stairs.
Does the Garrick Theatre have Boxes?
Yes, small ones on the side walls, but none are on sale for the shows announced so far. The front of the Dress Circle is the better view.
