Restaurants, Bars and Hotels Near the Garrick Theatre

There's no shortage of places to eat, drink and stay near the Garrick Theatre, and these are the ones we'd point you to. The best eating is a few minutes away around Covent Garden and Leicester Square.

Restaurants

Dishoom Covent Garden (5 minutes). Upper St Martin's Lane. Brilliant Bombay comfort food. Before 6pm you can book; after that it's mostly walk-in and you may have to queue, though the line moves fast.

Cork & Bottle (3 minutes). Cranbourn Street, just off Leicester Square. A long-running basement wine bar, good for a relaxed plate and a glass before curtain.

Joe Allen (about 8 minutes). Burleigh Street, off the Strand. A New York-style place open since 1977 and a long-time haunt of the theatre crowd, and it works as well after the show as before.

Bars and pubs

The Garrick Arms (next door). The closest pint to the theatre, and the one to head for if you only have ten minutes before the show.

The Porcupine (3 minutes). Charing Cross Road, a little way north by Leicester Square station. A historic pub with more room to spread out if next door is full.

The Harp (3 minutes). Chandos Place. A multi-award-winning cask-ale pub, the one to pick if you take your beer seriously.

Hotels

Premier Inn Leicester Square (3 minutes). The reliable choice for a bed near the theatre at a sensible price.

St Martins Lane London (3 minutes). 45 St Martin's Lane. A design hotel, if you want to make a night of it.

The Savoy (9 minutes). The Strand. The five-star option for a proper occasion.
