Access and Facilities at the Garrick Theatre

The step-free level is the Dress Circle, which is level with the foyer. The Stalls and the Grand Circle are both reached by stairs, and there's no lift.

Access bookings are handled by the venue's own access team, not by us. Arrange a wheelchair space or other access seats, and book any support you need, through the venue's official site before you travel.

Arriving

Go to the main entrance on Charing Cross Road and staff will take you in. There are two small steps from the pavement into the foyer, and staff put out a portable ramp, 75cm wide. The theatre asks access customers to arrive at least 45 minutes before the show, so there's time to get settled.

From the foyer to your seat

  • Dress Circle: level with the foyer, no steps
  • Stalls: 24 stairs down
  • Grand Circle: 25 steps up to the Grand Circle bar, then 8 down to the seats

Wheelchair and transfer seating

The wheelchair space is in the centre of row E of the Dress Circle, with companion seats next to it. The Dress Circle also has transfer positions if you'd rather move into a theatre seat.

Accessible toilet

One, off the foyer on the Dress Circle level. The baby changing is in there too.

Hearing support

The theatre has a Sennheiser radio-frequency system, with receivers handed out first come, first served. There are two kinds: a Stethoset, which combines the receiver and headphones, and a belt pack that takes your own headphones or a neckloop for hearing aids on the T setting. It doesn't work with Bluetooth.

Captioned, signed and audio-described performances

Each production sets its own. For One Day The Musical they are:

  • British Sign Language: Friday 22 January 2027, 7:30pm
  • Captioned: Saturday 6 February 2027, 7:30pm
  • Audio described: Sunday 28 February 2027, 3pm

No relaxed performance has been announced.

Assistance dogs and other help

Assistance dogs are welcome; book in advance with the venue, and an aisle seat gives your dog more room. If you'd rather your dog stayed out, staff will look after up to two dogs per performance, again booked in advance. Staff can also bring drinks, snacks and merchandise to your seat.

Bars

There's a bar on every level:

  • The Stalls bar, at the back of the Stalls
  • The Dress Circle bar, on the foyer level
  • The Gold Bar, at the top of the stairs to the Grand Circle

They get busy at the interval. Programmes and ice creams are sold in the foyer and in the auditorium.

Toilets

  • Stalls: Ladies and Gents
  • Dress Circle: Ladies and Gents, plus the accessible toilet off the foyer
  • Grand Circle: Ladies and Gents

Bags and coats

There's a bag check on the way in, so a smaller bag gets you through faster. There's a small cloakroom, first come first served; travel light.

Families

Booster seats are available from the auditorium entrances. Leave a buggy in the buggy park in the Gold Bar, on the Grand Circle level, and change a baby in the accessible toilet on the Dress Circle level.
