Access at the Capital Theatre

Access seats here are booked with the theatre's own access team rather than through general ticketing, and that side of it is handled by the venue, not by us.

The access team takes bookings by email only. There is no access phone line. Say what you need in writing and allow time for a reply, and do not plan on sorting it out with a call on the day, because there is nobody to call.

Step-free entry and wheelchair spaces

The theatre has step-free access and wheelchair spaces, and it states both as subject to availability, so once performances are on sale, book early rather than close to your date. The building is new, but the theatre has not published how many wheelchair spaces the auditorium holds.

The companion ticket is free

A companion or carer goes free. The theatre may ask for proof that you need one, and it accepts any of these:

  • The front page of a DLA or PIP award letter, with no specific rate required
  • A Certificate of Visual Impairment
  • A War Disablement Pension or an Armed Forces Independence Payment
  • A Continuing Healthcare Package or a Dual Sensory Impairment award
  • A Blue Badge
  • A Disabled Railcard
  • A CEA Card
  • A Nimbus CredAbility or Access Card
  • Recognised Assistance Dog ID
  • Any document carrying a "+1" symbol
  • Any other international disability document

If you hold any one of those, you are covered.

Access performances

None have been announced, because nothing has been announced at the theatre yet.

What the theatre has not published

The theatre does not publish anything about a hearing loop or an infrared system, anything about lifts inside the theatre itself, anything about accessible toilets or anything about assistance dogs. If any of those decide whether you can come, ask the access team before you book rather than after.

Access FAQs

How do I book an accessible seat at the Capital Theatre?

Through the theatre's own access team, by email, before you book anything else. There is no phone line for access bookings and the wheelchair spaces and step-free seats are not sold through general ticketing. A companion or carer ticket comes free, and the theatre accepts a wide range of documents as proof, including a Blue Badge, a CEA Card, a Disabled Railcard or the front page of a PIP letter.
