Grand Circle at the Palace Theatre

Now playing: Harry Potter and the Cursed Child From £30 Book tickets

Rows A to H, the third level, 56 steps up from the foyer. Around 230 seats either side of a centre aisle. It's quite high, but still a fair view of the stage, and it's usually cheaper than the two levels below.

Where we'd put you

The centre of rows B to D. You're high but facing the stage straight on, clear of the rail at the front, and in front of the point where the Balcony above starts to cut into the view.

What to avoid

  • Row A, if legroom matters. The whole row has restricted legroom, and the seats towards each end are side-on as well.
  • The ends of rows A and B. These rows run a long way round the sides of the circle, and the outer seats look across at the stage rather than at it.
  • From row E back, for this show. The Balcony overhang is noticeable from row E and significant from row G, so you lose the top of the stage from here. Row H is only two short sections at the ends.

Legroom in the Grand Circle

The tightest in the building. Anyone over about 5ft 6 will feel it, so if you're tall, an aisle seat helps, or book the Dress Circle, which has the most room.

Stairs and the lift

No lift here either: the Grand Circle is 56 steps up from the foyer. If stairs are a problem, the Stalls are the level to book.

Drinks and toilets

There's a bar at this level, and toilets too, so the interval doesn't mean going all the way down.

Grand Circle FAQs

Is the Grand Circle good at the Palace Theatre?

It's a fair view for the price if you're at the front of the centre, rows B to D. The catches are the height, the legroom, and the Balcony overhang from row E back.

Is the Grand Circle the same as the Upper Circle?

Yes. At the Palace the third level is called the Grand Circle, and it's what other theatres would call the Upper Circle.

Is the Grand Circle better than the Balcony?

Yes. It's lower, closer and less steep. We'd take a Grand Circle seat, even a restricted one, over a Balcony seat at the same price.
