Balcony at the Novello Theatre

Now playing: Mamma Mia! From £21 Book tickets

131 seats in rows A to F, on the third floor, at the very top of the theatre.

Who it suits

Anyone buying on price. These are the cheapest seats in the building, and clear ones: nothing overhangs this level, and the rake is steep enough that nobody in front blocks you. It isn't for anyone who minds heights, because it's very high and very steep.

Where we'd put you

The centre of rows C and D. Clear of the rail, with the most legroom on this level.

What to avoid

  • Row A. There's a double rail along the front of this level, and it cuts right across the view from row A. From row B it only catches the bottom of the view. The front two rows are also the ones to skip if heights bother you.
  • The ends of every row. The first and last three seats lose the front edge of the stage.

Row F has no seats in the middle, because that's the back wall of the building and there isn't room for them.

Legroom in the Balcony

The tightest in the theatre. Skip row A if you're over about 5ft 5, and row F is tight too. Rows C and D have the most room on this level.

Steps to the Balcony

About 50 steps up from the foyer, and there's no lift.

Drinks and toilets

The Waldorf Bar, which serves the Balcony and the Grand Circle, is 8 steps down. There are toilets on this level.

Balcony FAQs

Is the Balcony at the Novello Theatre worth it?

For the price, yes, as long as you skip row A and don't mind heights. The centre of rows C and D is the best of it.
