Boxes at the Lyceum Theatre

Now playing: The Lion King From £42 Book tickets

Six Boxes beside the stage, 18 seats in all, sold to parties of two, three or four. Boxes E and K are one each side at the lowest level, sitting above the Stalls and the closest of the six to the stage. Boxes A, B, F and G are a level up, two each side, at Royal Circle height.

Should you book one?

For the view, no. Every Box is side-on, and you lose the side of the stage nearest to you. From Boxes A, B, F and G you see roughly two thirds of the stage. You're close, and the chairs move, so you can shift to see more, but at a show this visual a straight-on seat is the better buy.

Better seats for the money

The centre of the Stalls, rows E to R, or the side seats of row R, which have nothing in front of them. Or the front of the Royal Circle, which shows you the whole stage at once. Any of those beats a Box for seeing the show.

When a Box does make sense

The Stalls Boxes are a quiet deal: restricted, but close, and often cheaper than you'd expect. They suit a small child, who can stand to see without anyone behind to mind, or a couple who want their own space. And a cast member visits the Boxes at the start of Act Two, which is a real moment if you're with children.

Boxes FAQs

Are the Boxes worth it at the Lyceum Theatre?

Not for the view. All six are side-on and lose part of the stage. Book one for the privacy, a small child or the Act Two visit; to see the whole show, the centre Stalls or the front of the Royal Circle is the better seat.

How many people fit in a Box at the Lyceum Theatre?

Two, three or four, depending on the Box, on movable chairs. There are 18 Box seats in all.
