Lyceum Theatre, London
The Lyceum Theatre is on Wellington Street, just off the Strand in Covent Garden, and has been home to Disney's The Lion King since 1999. It's one of the biggest theatres in the West End, with 2,185 seats across the Stalls, Royal Circle and Grand Circle, and it's a tall, wide theatre with strong sightlines, so it's hard to get a poor view.
Still choosing seats? Book the centre of the Stalls, rows E to R, and take an aisle seat if you can, because the animals come down the aisles at the start of the show. The front of the Royal Circle shows you the whole stage at once, the back and sides of it are good value, and the Grand Circle is the cheapest level and still sees everything. We'd skip Stalls rows A and B, which are too close for a show this big.
Already booked? Arrive 30 minutes before the show. Every bag is checked on the way in, and once the show starts the doors are locked for about 15 minutes.

What's On at the Lyceum Theatre
Disney's The Lion King opened at the Lyceum in 1999 and has played here ever since, one of the longest runs in West End history. Booking currently runs to Sunday 16 May 2027, which is a booking-until date rather than a closing date.
It plays Tuesday to Saturday at 7:30pm, with 2:30pm matinees on Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday, and runs about 2 hours 30 minutes including the interval, so an evening show finishes at about 10pm. Tickets start from around £35.
The show uses dynamic pricing, so the same seat can cost very different amounts from one date to the next, and booking early or booking late can both work out cheaper. All-in pricing, the price you see is what you pay.
Call us on 020 7193 9050 and we'll find you the best seat for your date and budget.

Lyceum Theatre FAQs
How many seats does the Lyceum Theatre have?
2,185 seats, across the Stalls, the Royal Circle and the Grand Circle, including 18 in the six Boxes beside the stage.
Is this the Lyceum Theatre in London?
Yes. This is the Lyceum Theatre on Wellington Street in London's West End, the home of The Lion King. Sheffield, Edinburgh, Crewe and Oldham all have Lyceums of their own, so if your ticket says 21 Wellington Street, WC2E 7RQ, you're in the right place.
When is the Lyceum Theatre Box Office open?
Tuesday to Saturday 10am to 8pm, and Sunday 11am to 3pm. It's closed on Mondays, when there's no performance. The desk is by the main entrance, in the ground-floor foyer. You don't need to go there to buy: book with us online or call 020 7193 9050.
Is there a dress code at the Lyceum Theatre?
No. There's no dress code for The Lion King at the Lyceum, so wear whatever you're comfortable in, from jeans to something smarter.
Can I take food and drink in?
Yes, if the food is cold and in a plastic container. Drinks in the Stalls and at the front of the two circles have to be in plastic, and you can order drinks and snacks to be brought to your seat.
Can I take a bag in?
A small bag, yes. Bags are searched at the door, and the theatre asks you not to bring suitcases, rucksacks or large bags. The cloakroom takes suitcases, heavy bags, rucksacks and pushchairs, but not coats, so wear what you're happy to sit in. For luggage, Charing Cross station has a left-luggage office.
Can I pay with cash?
No, it's card only. Everything you buy at the theatre, from drinks to the merchandise, is paid for by card.
Can I bring children?
Yes, from the age of three. Under-3s can't come in, not even as a baby on a lap, and every child needs a ticket of their own. Children aged 16 and under must come with an adult and can't be seated alone. For the show's own age guidance, see The Lion King's own page.
Booster seats are free and handed out first come, first served. Ask the usher once you reach your seating area, not at the door.
Is the Lyceum Theatre air conditioned?
It has an air-cooling system, there to stop the auditorium getting too hot in summer.
Can I book by phone?
Yes. Call us on 020 7193 9050 and a real person will help you pick seats for your date. The price we give you on the phone is the price you pay. For groups of six or more, we'll find seats together.
