What's Eurotrash About?
A writer with writer's block is summoned to Zurich by his elderly mother, who is holding herself together with vodka, pills and Ferragamo sweaters. Her fortune came from arms investments and dairy products, and she has decided to give it all away. With the cash stuffed in a plastic bag, the two of them set off on a chaotic road trip through the Swiss mountains, bickering all the way, and trying to come to terms with their family's past and Europe's.
It's a new stage adaptation by Colin Teevan of Christian Kracht's best-selling novel, directed by Walter Meierjohann. The Young Vic calls it "both a darkly comic travelogue and a poignant search for redemption and connection".
Who's Eurotrash For?
Fans of Ben Whishaw and Kathryn Hunter, and anyone who likes a dark comedy with a European edge. It's for 12 and over; the Young Vic will publish its content guidance nearer the time.
