Access at the Shaftesbury Theatre

Now playing: Avenue Q From £30 Book tickets

The Stalls are step free and reached by lift, and they are the largest and closest level in the building. Access bookings are handled by the theatre's own team, who hold the live picture for your date.

The Royal Circle is stairs only; the lift doesn't reach it.

Wheelchair provision

  • Eight spaces in the Stalls, each with a companion seat, and they can be booked online rather than by phone
  • A limited number in the Royal Circle, arranged with the theatre directly
  • For transferring out of a chair: Stalls aisle seats, or the front of the Royal Circle for anyone who can manage a few steps
  • Your own chair is kept by staff during the show and brought back at the interval and the end
  • A loan wheelchair is available

Equipment and animals

  • Radio frequency hearing system, headsets on request, and every seat in the auditorium picks it up
  • Standard headphone jack, so personal devices and cochlear implants work with it
  • Adaptor loops for hearing aids with a T setting
  • Bar menus in large print and braille
  • Guide dogs come into the auditorium, or staff mind them during the performance. Other assistance animals: arrange in advance

Performances

Captioned, signed and audio described performances are programmed, along with relaxed and chilled ones. Which of them run depends on the production.

Bags and storage

There is no cloakroom, and bags over 35cm by 17cm by 42cm cannot be stored.
