Restaurants, Bars and Hotels Near the Bridge Theatre
The theatre is built into One Tower Bridge, and the ground floor of that development is a row of restaurants and bars, so the nearest of them are seconds from the door. The hotels take a few minutes more, out along Tooley Street and Tower Bridge Road. Beyond the block you have More London along the river, Shad Thames through the arch, Bermondsey Street behind, and Borough Market fifteen minutes west.
Book your table for around six for a 7.30 curtain and tell them you are going to a show. And if you are booking somewhere for afterwards, allow for the ten minutes it can take to get out of the front rows.
Eat
The Coal Shed, One Tower Bridge. The theatre's own neighbour, a steak and fish restaurant in the same development, with a pre-theatre menu built for exactly this. Book it, and if you are running late you can still make the curtain, because the walk is one to two minutes.
The Ivy Tower Bridge, One Tower Bridge. One to two minutes from the door, open all day, and a menu long enough that nobody in the group has to be difficult about it. There is a terrace with Tower Bridge in front of it, and they take walk-ins as well as bookings.
Rosa's Thai, Tower Bridge. Thai, quick, cheap enough not to think about, and lighter than most of what is around here. One to two minutes away.
Drink
Prosecco House. Immediately to the right of the theatre entrance as you face it, a minute door to door, so you can leave your drink until the last possible moment. Sparkling wine and small plates on the river side of the building.
The Tower Bridge Arms. A proper pub, real ale and no cocktail list, but it is eight to ten minutes south down Tower Bridge Road, so treat it as a decision rather than a stop on the way. Small, too, so go early if there are more than four of you.
Tower Bridge Collective. Two to three minutes from the door, thirteen kitchens and two bars under one roof, which solves the problem of a group who cannot agree. Come here when you want a drink and a meal without booking either.
Stay
The LaLiT London, Tooley Street. Two to three minutes, in a Victorian grammar school with the old assembly hall as its dining room. It backs onto Potters Fields, so it is the closest hotel to the theatre, and the one to book if the hotel is meant to be part of the trip.
Premier Inn London Tower Bridge. Small, modern rooms at a sensible price, ten minutes away down Tower Bridge Road. For when you only need somewhere to sleep afterwards.
The Dixon, Tower Bridge. A converted magistrates' court six to seven minutes from the theatre, with the old courtroom now the bar. Grown-up and comfortable, and the pick if you want somewhere with a bit of character.
