Restaurants, Bars and Hotels Near Troubadour Canary Wharf Theatre
Almost everything worth eating here is in Wood Wharf, which is the new part of the estate the theatre sits in, and almost all of it is within four minutes on flat, level, ground-level streets. You do not cross any water to reach the places below, which matters more here than it sounds: the dock cuts the estate in half and there are very few crossings.
Inside the theatre
Songbird Restaurant and Bar is in the building, open seven days a week from midday to 11pm, and you can book a table at the same time as your tickets. Do that and the theatre will ask you to be there about two and a half hours before curtain up.
Songbird is not nut-free, although the foyers and auditorium are.
There are three bars inside the theatre and an outside terrace over the dock. Before the show you will be sent a text link to pre-order interval drinks, snacks and merchandise for collection in the foyer, which is the easiest way to avoid the queue.
Restaurants
Hawksmoor Wood Wharf, Water Street. A minute away, in a floating pavilion that rises and falls with the tide. The kitchen shuts at 3:30pm and reopens at 4:30pm, and that reopening is the pre-theatre slot. Sunday service ends at 8:30pm, so it is no use after an evening performance.
Dishoom, Water Street. Two minutes, on the same street as the theatre. Mostly walk-in: it only takes reservations for six or more after 6pm, so a pre-show table here is a queue rather than a booking. Factor that in or go earlier.
Emilia's Crafted Pasta, George Street. Two minutes, in Wood Wharf. Fresh pasta from an open kitchen, 85 seats indoors and a terrace on the dock, and it takes bookings. The reliable one when Dishoom's queue is out of the door.
Bars
Hawksmoor Bar, Water Street. The lower deck of the same floating pavilion, a minute from the theatre door, and you can drink there without eating. Walk-ins; the restaurant upstairs is a separate booking. It shuts at 8:30pm on Sunday.
Crate Bar and Pizzeria, Water Street. Two minutes, on the corner of Water Street and Park Drive. Own beer, pizza and music, and it runs to 1am on Friday and Saturday, which makes it the nearest proper late drink after the show.
No 35 Mackenzie Walk. Eight minutes, on the waterfront terrace across Middle Dock. Worth the walk on a summer evening, with one catch: it closes at 7pm on Sunday, and this theatre plays a Sunday matinee.
Hotels
TRIBE London Canary Wharf, Water Street. The nearest hotel to the theatre, on Water Street itself. There is a 24-hour grab-and-go counter downstairs, which is the answer if you get out at 10:15pm and only want a sandwich.
Locke London Canary Wharf, Cartier Circle. Four minutes. Studios and one-bedroom suites with kitchens rather than ordinary rooms, and a 24-hour front desk, which not every aparthotel on the estate has.
Novotel London Canary Wharf, Marsh Wall. Across South Dock, so the walk goes round by the South Quay footbridge rather than straight across. A proper hotel with a pool, and a bar on the 37th, 38th and 39th floors. Ask for a river-facing room.
