Access and Facilities at The Arts at Marble Arch
You can get into the building without steps, but only one row, row A at the very front, can be reached without climbing. Every other row is up at least one step.
Access bookings are handled by the venue, not by us. They're made by phone or email with the theatre's Box Office, and can't be made online.
Registering for access tickets
To book access seats, you need either a Nimbus Access Card or the free Arts Theatre Digital Access Pass. Both last three years, and the theatre's official site explains how to get one.
Getting in and getting to your seat
The main entrance has step-free access, with a 14mm lip at the door. Inside, row A of the Front Stalls is at stage level with no steps.
How many steps to each part of the Stalls:
- Row A: none
- The rest of the Front Stalls: one step up per row, with no handrails on the middle aisles
- The Rear Stalls: 13 steps up, with handrails, then one big step per row with a smaller step in it; the outside aisles have handrails
The Front Stalls rows are reached from their ends, which sit against railings, so there's no space to walk along the end of a row.
Wheelchair spaces
Row A is the only row you can reach without steps, so book a wheelchair space directly with the venue, by phone or email, and ask where it is when you book.
Seat size and armrests
Seats are 40cm across. The armrests on both sides of every seat lift fully out of the way, so transferring from a wheelchair is easier.
Accessible toilet
All the toilets are step-free. The accessible toilet is on the same side of the auditorium as the men's toilets, and it takes a RADAR key, or a member of staff will open it for you.
Hearing and sight
There's no published hearing loop or assisted-listening system, so if you need one, check with the Box Office before booking.
Many shows here have audio-described, captioned, relaxed and BSL-signed performances. Each production sets its own dates, and you'll find them on the show's page once they're announced.
Assistance dogs
Guide dogs are welcome. Book an aisle seat and your dog can stay beside you through the show, or the staff will look after it. Tell the venue your dog is coming when you book.
Parking
Q-Park Marble Arch, under Hyde Park, has 14 accessible bays. Its step-free exit is on the Marble Arch side, and the ramp up from the street is steep, so you may need a hand.
Bar
The bar is in the foyer. Before the show and at the interval, the queue for it can block the way across the foyer to the side doors of the auditorium, so get there early or head straight in. In the auditorium, avoid noisy snacks, which staff may take away if they disturb the show.
Toilets
The toilets are in units built behind the stage, and they're better than you might expect in a temporary theatre. All of them are step-free.
Bags and coats
There's no cloakroom, and nowhere to store large items, so leave suitcases and big bags behind. Bags are checked at the door, and glass, aerosols, knives and anything heavy or sharp aren't allowed in.
