Where to Sit

Riverside's Mainstage seats around 400, so nobody is far from the stage. A central seat gives the most even view of the set.

What's Affluenza About?

A teenager from a very rich family drives drunk and people die. His parents hire a New York lawyer, and the defence becomes the question the whole play turns on: can someone be so cushioned by wealth that he doesn't know right from wrong? The play is inspired by a real legal case, and it's set among the ultra-wealthy of the Hamptons.

It's a world premiere, written and directed by Andy Sandberg, and the first of five new plays in Riverside's Mainstage season.

Who's Affluenza For?

Stranger Things fans who want to see Noah Schnapp on stage for the first time, and anyone who likes a dark, talky play about money and who gets away with what. It's recommended for 14 and over.

Affluenza News

Affluenza opened at Riverside Studios on 26 September, with its press night on 5 October. It's the first play in Riverside's Mainstage season; Sacrilegious follows from 5 December.
