Access at Regent's Park Open Air Theatre
The site is level from the gate to the auditorium, and inside it one row, row J, has no steps.
Access bookings here are handled by the venue's own access team, not by us. They are made directly with the theatre through its official site, and the theatre charges access seats at a reduced rate.
Getting in without steps
There is a level route in. A path beside the Regent's Bar and Kitchen leads to the Box Office and gives level access to the site. The Exit Gate off the Inner Circle is level too, but it is on a steep incline.
Level access runs right across the site: Covered Dining, the Bar, the Summer Café, The Grill, the Robert Atkins Studio, the Rehearsal Studios, the accessible toilets and the auditorium itself.
The tube is the problem, not the theatre
Baker Street has no step-free access from platform to street, which makes the nearest station the wrong answer for a good many people. The nearest step-free station is Euston, and that is a 30-minute walk away.
The theatre's own recommendation is to travel by bus instead, and it is the right one. The routes are on the getting here page.
For an assistance dog that is not escalator-trained: take the Circle, Hammersmith & City or Metropolitan line and leave Baker Street by the stairs, or the Bakerloo and leave by the stairs at Regent's Park.
Wheelchair spaces
In row J, the level row in the gangway between the two tiers, between four and eight of them depending on how each production lays the auditorium out. It is one of the better rows in the theatre rather than a compromise, with nothing directly in front and a great deal of space.
Assistance dogs
Welcome. The theatre asks you to tell it when you book, so it can put you on an aisle or arrange for someone to hold the dog during the performance. It also flags that productions here use loud noises and bright lighting, and invites you to ask about a specific show before you commit.
Hearing
An FM assisted listening system, with handsets requested from the Box Office.
Before you come
The theatre publishes a sensory map alongside its venue map, and it runs familiarisation tours on request.
Assisted performances
Each season carries a set of captioned, BSL-interpreted, audio described and relaxed performances, and the audio described ones come with a Touch Tour beforehand. The dates are published per production, so check the production you want against the theatre's own list rather than against a season-wide one.
Toilets
Accessible toilets on site, alongside male, female and gender neutral ones.
Access FAQs
Is Regent's Park Open Air Theatre wheelchair accessible?
Yes. The route in and the whole site are level, and the wheelchair spaces are in row J. Access bookings are made with the venue's own team rather than with us.
Is there step-free access to Regent's Park Open Air Theatre by tube?
Not usefully. The closest step-free station is Euston, half an hour away on foot, which is why the theatre recommends the bus.
