The Winners and Summary from the 2015 Olivier Awards

The 39 annual Olivier Awards took place this last Sunday 12 April 2015 and Hit The Theatre is pleased to say that many of our previous predictions came through. Please don’t think this is us boasting about our superior knowledge, but more that we were lucky enough to see the creme of this years shows and think they were worthy!http://www.film-news.co.uk/images/news/OlivierAwards.jpg


This year’s ceremony took place at the famous world-class Royal Opera House in London. The theatre world turned in force out see who the winners.

This year comedian, presenter and acclaimed, award-winning actor Lenny Henry hosted.

Guests on the night included award presenters Judi Dench, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Dianna Agron, Anne-Marie Duff, Emilia Fox, David Harewood and Lorna Luft.

There were incredible musical performances by some of this year’s nominated shows including all the Best New Musical and Best Musical Revival nominees - Sunny Afternoon, Memphis, Cats, Miss Saigon, Wicked, plus a turn from Kevin Spacey!

Beverley Knight performed a number from Memphis The Musical followed by Katie Brayben performing a song from Beautiful – The Carole King Musical. Brayben would go on to collect the award for Best Actress in a Musical later in the night.

Nominee Nicole Scherzinger from Cats didn’t go home with any awards but captivated the audience with Andrew Lloyd Webber’s iconic track Memory.

All of these memorable performances were all but not enough when a surprise finale sung by Kevin Spacey and Beverly Knight stole the show and finished the awards strong.
