The toe-tapping, chart-topping 70s hits from ABBA combined with an enduring tale of love, family and friendship introduces Mamma Mia! to a whole new generation of theatre enthusiasts.
For the first time in 10 years, the Blackpool Opera House will host a summer run of a West End musical—and what better way to usher in the much-awaited season than with staging of Mamma Mia!
Directed by Phyllida Lloyd and a book by Catherine Johnson, Mamma Mia! is a popular musical based on ABBA’s chart toppers.
It transports audiences to a sunny Greek isle where Sophie’s quest of finding her father in time for her wedding unwittingly bring her mother face to face with several men from her past.
The touring version of this West End musical will be running at the Blackpool Opera House for 10 weeks, beginning 20 June 2014 until 14 September 2014.
For its exclusive UK run, Niamh Perry stars as Sophie, with real-life husband and wife Richard Standing and Sara Royzer playing Sam Carmichael and Donna Sheridan.
Veteran theatre actors including Geraldine Fitzgerald (Tanya), Sue Devaney (Rosie), Micheal Beckly (Bill Austin), Keiron Crook (Harry Bright), Bart Edwards (Sky), Sally Frith (Ali), Jasmin Colangelo (Lisa), Kade Ferriaiolo (Pepper) and Ashley Luke Lloyd (Eddie) will also be part of this stellar musical’s cast.
