[NEWS] Kristin Scott Thomas Leads Electra at the Old Vic Theatre

Kristin Scott Thomas will star in Frank McGuinness' adaptation of Electra at the Old Vic Theatre starting 20 September to 20 December 2014.

Scott Thomas is best known for her television and film acting in films such as The English Patient and in Electra she reunites with director Ian Rickson in this classic Greek tragedy by Sophocles.

She plays the title role of Electra, whom together with her brother, Orestes, take revenge against their mother and her lover for the murder of their father.

Thomas is widely known for her roles in movies such as Four Weddings and a Funeral with Hugh Grant, Gosford Park with an impressive cast that include 2013 Olivier Best Actress Helen Mirren, and with Tom Cruise in the first installment of Misson: Impossible.

Her stage credits are equally as impressive with roles in Three Sisters at the Playhouse Theatre, Betrayal and Old Times at the Harold Pinter Theatre, and The Seagull at Royal Court Theatre in London, for which she won the Olivier Award for Best Actress.

Electra runs at the Old Vic Theatre from 20 September – 20 December 2014 with Evening performances from Monday – Saturday at 7:30pm and Matinees on Wednesday and Saturday at 3:00pm.

Prior to Electra opening at the Old Vic Theatre, Richard Armitage will lead the cast in The Crucible running from 24 June to 13 September 2014.
